Airstreams on the Square
September 5-8, 2019
Our friends in the Razorback Airstream Club cordially invite SECU members to the 2nd urban rally in downtown El Dorado, AR. Coincides with the SouthArk Outdoor Expo on Saturday – a day of live bands, car show, photo contest, dog show, and hands-on activities and exhibits for outdoor enthusiasts. Water is available for fresh water tanks at the courthouse and a dump station is nearby when leaving. Reserve a site through Jan Heavener at firstname.lastname@example.org Rally fee to be determined.
September 13-15, 2019
To mirror Denise Fleming’s rally, this is the XYZ rally – which is actually before the ABC rally, which makes no sense whatsoever, but who needs to make sense? Let’s join hosts Mike and Nancy Gore to just have fun! X is for ex presidents – with the Little White House right down the road. Y is for yaks, or kayaks to be specific on the beautiful lake in the park. And Z is for the Zebras that you can see if you visit the Wild Animal Safari a short ride from the campground. There’s also Callaway Gardens nearby, with golfing, gardens, and a beautiful butterfly center. A little further down the road is Columbus, Georgia which has a National Civil War Naval Museum and a National Infantry Museum (which I’ve been told by the Hackneys is pretty awesome). We are booked at site 116 and there are lots of others available around that site, but don’t wait to long to reserve! This is a beautiful and popular campground with much to see and do in the surrounding area.
Make your reservations now because the park fills up fast in the Fall. FDR State Park
SECU members and affiliates, please visit the club Facebook page to let Nancy know if you are attending.
Carolina BalloonFest – Statesville, NC
October 18-20, 2019
APRIL 9 UPDATE —— ATTENTION RALLYGOERS! IF YOU WANT TO PARK WITH THE OTHER SECU MEMBERS, YOU MUST REGISTER NO LATER THAN APRIL 15TH. AFTER THAT DATE, PARKING WILL BE ASSIGNED ON A FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED BASIS.
Please join members of the Southeastern Camping Unit, the Carolinas Airstream Club, and the Piedmont Unit for the Carolina BalloonFest Rally in Statesville, NC October 18-20, 2019.
While there were plans in the works to move the festival, they did not come to fruition for this year. As last year, we will have parking convenient to the entrance to the festival grounds. This year the Festival will be providing us with a gathering area for happy hours and meals. Also, this year we will have an exclusive early reservation window closing April 15th. All members reserving in the window will be guaranteed adjacent parking. The festival will attempt to continue parking our attendees who reserve after the window closes together but it cannot be guaranteed; get your reservations in early.
The schedule has not been set for the 2019 festival but in years past planned events included a Friday afternoon launch, a Saturday morning launch, a Saturday evening glow window, and a Sunday morning launch. We attempt to plan our happy hours and meals around the festival events which requires some flexibility as the event timing is dictated by weather conditions.
1. Reservations are not refundable, but the festival has committed to support transfer of a reservation to another person as needed.
2. This is boondock-style camping. No services are available. Arrive full of water, batteries charged, and holding tanks empty!
To make your reservation, download the form at: BalloonFest Registration for SECU
Note: Use this form, not the one on the BalloonFest website. This one has been customized for the rally.
Fill in your details, mail the form and your check to the address on the form.
Parking passes with site assignments will be e-mailed. Wristbands for the festival will be sent out just prior to the festival. If needed ask for your wristbands to be mailed to me and you can pick them up once you have parked. E-mail me to let me know if you have signed up and if I need to watch for your wristbands or if you have questions – email@example.com
